I had an awesome time at a seminar with Ashley Williams at my home club, Mathouse in Reading! I absolutely love seminars—they’re like treasure hunts where I always pick up some game-changing techniques, insights, and those “aha!” moments that help me level up or at least see the sport through the eyes of pros like Ashley.

Here’s my quick review: it was fantastic! Here’s why:

1. Clear and Simple: Ashley broke down the technique in such an easy-to-follow way that it just clicked.
2. Building Blocks: As we progressed, he added layers to make the technique even sharper and more effective—so satisfying to see it all come together.
3. Great Vibes: Ash is the full package—sociable, likable, and super charismatic. He didn’t just show up and teach; he was engaging, chatting with everyone, and even humbly introduced himself (instead of assuming we already knew who he was).

The sparring bit was a highlight for me. We did a “king of the hill” drill, starting in the position he had just taught. Ashley jumped in and sparred with most of us, demonstrating just how effective the technique was in action. He was especially thoughtful with the newer students, giving them space to work while still showcasing the skill.

I won’t ramble, but seriously, this seminar was top-notch. If you ever get the chance to attend one of Ashley’s sessions, do it. Huge shoutout to Dom from Mathouse for always bringing in amazing talent and hosting such inspiring events. 👏
